Biography

Rob Stokes has been playing guitar with a passion since he was 19 years old and later studied music at Grande Prairie Regional College and the University of Alberta.

Winning the 2010 MTV Ourstage competition for his song CanDew, Tr3s Latin Music Contest and ReverbNation’s International Summit in 2011 spurred Rob on to keep writing and recording music while perfecting his style.

Rob started teaching in 1994 throughout Calgary, Okotoks and the Foothills. He teaches all levels and all styles on guitar, mandolin, bass and ukulele at his current High River Studio or virtually online.

This rewarding career has produced 50 plus guitar instructors across Canada, many career musicians and award winners at numerous international competitions including Calgary’s Guitar Wars, Foothills Idol, Guitarpalooza, Victor Wooten’s Bass on the Beach (World Bass competition), and Epcor Presents Alberta’s Best Young Songwriters.
